Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

The Côte d’Azur

The Côte d’Azur restaurant car, with its wonderful glassware by René Lalique, was built in 1929 as a first-class car. He belonged to the Côte d’Azur Pullman Express line before moving on to Deauville on winter trips from Paris to Calais for many years. Abandoned since 1961 after being decommissioned, it was rescued in 1981 and completely restored to be part of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
